This is just lovely.

Walrus tusk must be a joy to work with. I can't get this kind of smooth detail in the deer antler I've been working with.

mainly smoothness is not the material merit, antler also could be detailed this way (dense, not porous parts).

The problem with antler is most of the parts large enough to try this on *Are* porous.

It seems tusk is quite thick all the way through to the root. Antler is only tick half the way through.

yes, tusks are dense overall. as for anthler you can use lateral cutting to get a dense plate from thick horns

this is awesome! how do you not break it? XD or is the tusk easier to work with/less brittle then bone?

thanx! walrus tusk is easier to break than cow bone (that is rather flexible unlike walrus), I don't know, almost never broke anything like it, just don't wanna break them and they don't break :)

hahha! okayXD I must be too rough, though most of the bones I have are actually quite old, like maybe three four years old>.>
But that's awesome! I'm a huge fan of your detailed work^^
